The imagine manned spaceflight became a reality in the early 1960's. Flying solo aboard the Mercury TM capsule, six brave American Astronauts helped leader mankind's early expedition of space. Riding effective rockets, they would experience extreme acceleration during the fast ascent into space and reach speeds up to 27,500 kilometres per hour. Early suborbital flights lasted about 15 minutes, whilst later orbital objectives would circle the earth every 90 minutes. Upon re-entry, the ablative guard on the exterior of their capsule would conserve them from temperatures over 1,000 degrees Celsius. Once in Earth's environment, a large parachute would slow them and their capsule to a safe speed, enabling a splash down in the ocean. The effective Mercury TM program paved the way for more ambitious manned spaceflight programs, which eventually saw male stroll on the moon. * Contains parts and decals to make TWO Mercury TM Spacecraft * Pick from 3 various flight modes - launch, orbit or re-entry * In-depth Mercury TM capsule with shingles and bolts carefully replicated * Parts to build boilerplate, porthole or window versions of the capsule * Carefully engraved recessed panel lines * High quality water-slide decals consisted of * Show stands consisted of * Photo-etch parts consisted of PAINT AND GLUE NOT CONSISTED OF Length: roughly 110 mm (without stand) Size: 26 mm Parts: 24 per model Created in Australia, Plastic parts moulded in China, Photo-etch parts and box made in Australia, Decals printed in U.S.A by Microscale Industries Produced under license.
